Septic Process
To get started, Go-X Services will complete a site evaluation to scope the project with you. Then Go-X Services will file permits, meet with the county representative to analyze the soil, and design a system. Lastly Go-X Services will install, repair or replace the septic system, and coordinate all required inspections before the final backfill and grading. Below is helpful information in getting started with your next septic system project:
Step 1: Site Evaluation
The first step in the process of installing a septic system is an introduction between you as the customer and Go-X Services. When you contact Go-X Services for information on what to do for your specific situation, the owner will schedule an in-person consultation with you to further go over your project. As the installer Go-X Services wants you to know you are getting a knowledgeable and trustworthy contractor. Having a septic system installed, repaired, or replaced can seem a bit overwhelming, and Go-X Services provides peace-of-mind in completing the job with a thorough site evaluation and meeting with you to understand your needs and expectations.
Step 2: Permitting
Go-X Services can handle all the permitting for your septic project. Permits are required with the county to install, repair, or replace a septic system. There are new system permits which are for brand new systems. There are also repair permits which are for tank replacements, leach field replacements, or entire septic system replacements. When the permit is approved and issued, that will allow Go-X Services to schedule the excavation of the test pits.
Step 3: Test Pits and Soil Analysis
When the permitting process is complete, the next step is to schedule test pit excavation and a percolation test for a soil analysis. The tests pits need to be dug so the county representative can analyze the soil profile to help determine the size of the leach field. The percolation test shows how well the soil will absorb the effluent. After these analyses a septic design is designed. At this point, Go-X Services can give you an accurate estimate for the septic system installation. When the estimate is accepted, Go-X Services can schedule the installation.
Step 4: Installation, Inspection, and Backfill
Once Go-X Services is confirmed to complete your project, then the installation can be scheduled. Go-X Services implements some of the newest technologies in the excavation industry. Using a 2D grading system coupled with a tilt-rotator they are able to dig efficiently and effectively. These innovations eliminate the guess work in excavation and allow for the installation of the septic system to be done right the first time. After the septic system is installed properly, then the inspections are performed. When they are passed Go-X Services will backfill the septic system and grade the area in accordance to county regulations.
Septic System Considerations
There are a few factors that affect the size and type of septic system you will need. The number of bedrooms, soil type, water table level, and the size and layout of the land all play a role in what septic system will be the best fit for your property. The more bedrooms in a house means the tank and leach field will need to be bigger to accommodate potential occupancies. Sandier soils allow for easier drainage in the leach field, which can reduce the size of the leach field. Clay soils are slower to drain, which can increase the size of the leach field. Rock soils are typically over-excavated and have a sand bed installed in its place. Constraints on a property, like slopes, tree location, property lines, accessibility, or outbuildings, can limit where the system can be placed. All these factors are considered by Go-X Services and the county representatives when determining the correct size and type of septic system.
If an inspection reveals the septic tank needs to be replaced, Go-X Services will provide a detailed plan of how this will be performed. The existing tank can either be crushed and backfilled or removed completely. The new tank can be installed next to, in front, behind, or in the same spot as the existing tank. Wherever it needs to depending on your specific project’s needs. After a site evaluation Go-X Services can determine what will be best for you.
Septic System Types
Gravity fed systems are the simplest septic systems. The effluent uses gravity to flow from the house to the septic tank and from the tank to a distribution box and then evenly to the leach field. The slope of the property is the largest factor in being able to install a gravity system. If the slope flows nicely away from the house, a gravity fed system can be utilized.
Dosing systems use gravity to flow the effluent from the house to the tank, but an additional tank is installed called a dosing or a pump chamber. This chamber has an electric pump in it and allows for the liquid effluent to accumulate until it is pumped to a distribution box. Where it is then evenly distributed to the leach field. These systems can be used when the water table is high or the slope of the land will not allow for a gravity system.
Pressure dosing systems are similar to dosing systems where the effluent gravity flows the house to the septic tank then into a pump chamber, but the difference is in the leach field. The effluent is pumped from the pump chamber to a series of pipelines in the leach field. These pipelines have holes drilled in them at certain intervals that allow for the effluent to be absorbed into the leach field. These systems can be used when the soils need to over-excavated and a sand bed is installed. Also, when the size of the leach field needs to be reduced due to constraints on the property a pressure dosing system is installed.
Regardless of the type system, Go-X Services has the knowledge and expertise to install any system. With multiple county licenses and accreditations from CPOW and NAWT, you can rest easy knowing that Go-X Services can take on any septic system project.
